28 reasons to hike - Part 2

This is the second in a series of reasons to be a hiker — as if you needed a reason! But if your friends, family, or co-workers are curious as to why you’re so into this outdoor obsession, pass them this list; maybe they’ll catch on.

5) Hiking can evoke feelings of euphoria (legally) - Studies suggest that the happy feelings we experience while hiking are a result of a "complex interaction of chemicals in the brain.” According to the studies, endorphins released by the brain while hiking mask pain while dopamine released motivates us to reach our goal. The combined effect? - "An exhilarated high that lasts for hours after the hike.” Who would not want to experience a feeling of euphoria without any side effects.

6) Hiking is educational - Hands on learning is one of the best ways to learn. Being outdoors makes one understand life-cycle, ecosystems, geomorphology etc. There is so much to learn outdoors.

7) Hiking relieves stress - According to this Harvard article (http://www.health.harvard.edu/heart-health/take-a-hike), “A number of small studies hint that spending time in green space—nature preserves, woodlands, and even urban parks—may ease people’s stress levels.” Go hiking whenever you feel stressed.

8) Hiking is a family friendly activity - Today we limit ourselves with family activities such as going to movies or dinners. But here at Pinnacle Outdoor Adventures, we organize small hikes for family camping. We have seen it first hand, the happiness on the kids and parents faces when they hike together. We get calls from parents saying that their kids are more active and share a lot more with them after their hike together.
